Welcome to
Glass By Theo
Theoren began blowing glass in early 2008 at the age of eight years old. His inspiration began in Benicia, California when he was taken to a glass studio with his great grandmother and mother. The studio was operated by artists Michael Nourot and Anne Corcoran. He immediately expressed an interest in learning to work with hot glass.
A few months later Theoren attended a Dale Chihuly glass exhibit at the de Young Art Museum in San Francisco. During the exhibit Theoren was amazed by what Chihuly had done. After that, the quest to find a teacher who wouldaccept an eight year old began. In November 2009, Theoren got to meet his idol Dale Chihuly in San Luis Obispo. The Chihuly family was fabulous and we still keep in contact with them. It didn't take long until we found Phil and Hazel Teefy and Rene Steinke at Rainbow Glass in Sacramento. To say they all have been amazing is an understatement. Each of them has encouraged Theoren by way of intense instruction, support, praise and constructive criticism. Theoren now splits his time between Public Glass in San Francisco and Fire River Art Glass In West Sacramento. Guido Gerlitz, Evan Kolker, Patrick Mullen and Linnea Wong have been truly amazing with Theoren and his talents continue to grow. Theoren has become increasingly intensely passionate about glass. With the help of his instructors, and with time and patience, Theoren may become the next Dale Chihuly, Michael Nourot or Lino Tagliapietra. He already has an eye on the most prestigious glass schools around. Recently Theoren entered three pieces of glass in the California State Fair. He took first place with Mardi Gras Bowl and River Creek Vase. He took second place with Fish Cup. He was also the recipient of the Viewer's Choice Award at the sixth annual Public Glass Artist's and Artisan's benefit auction. Thanks for visiting the site and supporting Theoren!
